Well, this is a flashback of America's, thinking about when he started to grow away from England. This point is JUST BEFORE he started to rebel, and how much he wanted to feel like an adult just like England was.I think that's all he really wanted. He was tired of only seeing the things that England let him see, and he wanted to see things on his own. He never hated England, I think.
