Description Sneak-peak of the illustration for chapter 24 from my soon-to-be-published fantasy, Becoming the Chateran. Because I couldn't wait to share this one since I really like it.

The space below in the border is where the chapter title and number will go.

Hiylienea and Rhea took hands and held them very tight as the Fey came racing towards them, the sunlight glinting off the weapons strapped at their backs and sides. There were so many of them. Then all at once, another sound rose over the rumble of hoof beats. Voices. Rhea could not catch the words, but Zephen suddenly reared up like an excited hound seeing someone it knows, and his piercing cry was taken up by the other Griffins in the pass, all of whom leapt into the air and began sweeping through the air towards the approaching line of Centaurs.
“What is happening?” Rhea almost choked with fear and shook Erul’s arm.
His booming laugh shook his shoulders. “Do not fear, Brithea! My people are singing! It is a Feish song of welcome, and your Griffin companion recognized it. This tribe comes in peace.”
Sure enough, the Griffins did not collide and fight with the Centaurs, as horrified Rhea had expected them to, but whirled and swooped just over their heads. Their hawk-like victory calls punctuated the now recognizable sound of singing rising up from the Centaurs.
And then a moment later, the Centaurs, unable to check their great speed, raced through the crowd. It was breathtaking. A wave of brown, black, white, and grey, their long hair and tails whipping in the wind of their motion, they threaded their way faultlessly through the crowd, never even touching one of the astonished people. Their strong, wild voices vibrated out of them, ringing out over the hammering of their hooves, and a tingling thrill shot through Rhea, her spirits rising.
