Description “Eclipsed by the Dark”

• Both are the overarching, ambitious, brilliant, and beautiful antagonists of revolutionary, iconic, dark fantasy series. Despite being very similar in that regard, both were born in opposite living conditions. (Sauron being the mightiest Maia, and Griffith being a poor, orphan child overshadowed by a kingdom.)

• Both were not born evil, but their insatiable lust for power and control ended up permanently warping them, and caused their upbringings to resemble each other's. (Sauron being banished to Earth, fallen from godhood, while Griffith rose to godhood, joining the rank of the God Hand.)

• Both are heavily associated with being fallen angels, with Sauron being a Maia, and described an as angelic being who fell from grace, while Griffith, described as angelic, ended up gaining his iconic, dark armor after sacrificing all of his friends.

• Both are known for the iconic, dark armor they wear, as well as their remarkable, almost unnatural beauty under the armor they wear. They contrast though, in that Sauron is constantly wearing his armor, almost never revealing his looks underneath, while Griffith very rarely dons his armor, showing off his inhuman beauty to all.

• Both's titles are different than the names they received at birth, but ended up gaining new names upon gaining their armor, and becoming associated with fellow dark beings. (Mairon becoming Sauron after joining Melkor, and Griffith becoming Femto after joining the God Hand.)

• In their grasp, they wear one of the most powerful objects in their universe as jewelry. Despite the fact there are many similar, powerful objects to theirs, they wield the most powerful of them all. (The One Ring and the Crimson Behelit.) However, while Sauron was always destined to lose the Ring, Griffith was destined to always gain back the Behelit.)

• Both have a correlation to a powerful pact animals, despite the fact that they have no true friends or family. (Sauron being able to shapeshift into a wolf, and Griffith being compared to a hawk.)

• While Sauron is truly completely evil, with no friends, family, or love, Griffith still has traces of sadness and regret for the past, despite the fact he keeps moving forward.

• Both were hidden away from the world and the eyes of mortals for many years, but ended up returning, uniting many groups of both man and monster, in order to unite to fight against the men and elves of the world. While Sauron managed to do this through manipulation and corruption, Griffith united everyone under a common goal through his sheer charisma alone.

• Both ended up enacting a large scale event that'd change the lives of those affected, by involving valuable allies into a dangerous event that permanently changed the lives of those effected who survived. (Sauron tricking the elves into forging the rings, and Griffith sacrificing the Band of The Hawk during the Eclipse.)

• Despite being incredible fighters when they need to, both often don't need to fight due to their legion of monsters, and when they themselves are forced into combat, their unnatural, and relatively unexplained ability to morph the world around them is enough to defeat foes. (Sauron's will being able to change the physical world around him, and Griffith controlling the currents of Causality.)

• Both have an assortment of names and titles, often referred to as such by many different people of different parts of the world. (Sauron being known as The Dark Lord, The Dark Power, The Black One, The Black Hand, The Black Master, The Base Master of Treachery, The Deceiver, The Enemy, The Sorcerer, The Necromancer, The Nameless, The Unnamed, The Shadow, The Ring-maker, The Lord of The Rings, The Lord of Mordor, The Lord of the Earth, The King, The King of Men, The Ruler, and Halbrand, while Griffith is known as Femto, the Wings of Darkness, the White Falcon, the Falcon of Light, the Falcon of Darkness, the King of Longing, and The Absolute.)

• Through their torment and abuse, both ended up physically breaking, and mentally shattering, a person who was unimportant in the grand scheme of life, until they became apart of a much grander plot involving the main villains. (Gollum's mind and body being twisted by the Ring, and Casca being assaulted, and having her memory erased, due to Griffith in the Eclipse.)

• Both suffered an incredible defeat due to a tall, powerful, swordsman, losing a lot of their power upon their defeat. (Isildur cutting off Sauron's ring finger, and Guts beating Griffith in the sword fight.)

• Ultimately, both are irredeemable monsters who gave up any humanity they had, but Griffith still did care for his comrades and people around him, still having a tinge of sadness for the past, but Sauron ultimately has no past regrets, with no true friends, family, or loving experiences.
