Finally finished
Took me a long time, and a lot of work, but I think I'm finally done with this drawing.

There's a lot of things I wish I'd done differently when I started the drawing - I'd not have left it for several weeks/a month or two, between doing the sketch and one eye and finishing it. Thing is, I started this drawing after a long period of not having done much photorealism since the chinchilla drawing. So my skills were slightly rusty, and much of the work I did on this drawing after the first part was spent correcting things I'd done to begin with.

the extreme contrast between light and dark areas of this drawing made scanning a bit of a nightmare, but I think it turned out OK eventually.

pencils used - 6b, 4b, 2b, B, HB, 2H, 4H, 7H and 8H (last two mainly for 'indenting'

thanks
I'm rather proud of this one, although personally I prefer my chinchilla drawing - but at least now I have one of my favourites of my drawings that I haven't given away!

This is really good As tess said, a background would help with the 3Dness, but otherwise, this is really very good indeed.

yeah, maybe I should get into drawing backgrounds. dunno where to start though, because plain wash grey always seemed rahter boring to me - and blurry backgrounds always eem to end up blurring the detail of the character, when I do them

thankies.

I'm sure you'd manage some backgrounds, if you can draw the foregrounds so well. hehe, you're welcome.

backgrounds require actually coming up with ideas for myself though
I'm just lazy

Fantastic detail. I really like the shading and the expression. I feel you've definitely done Serafim justice.

Brilliant piece indeed.

I have... no words. Thank you so much for doing this, it's really important to me that people think about Serafim, not to mention it's incredibly well done

I saw your journal, and decided there and then that I wanted to draw him for you - before you'd set up the 'Challenge.' I'd been looking for some time to find something that would motivate me enough to start another serious drawing, and then I saw your photos.

I love drawing animals, and it's even better if I can really give something to somebody. I'm glad you like the drawing

Only criticisme is that the contrast between baclground and figure is cut so cleqbly thqt it loses its 3dness

mmmm. I don't like to do 'generic blurry grey' backgrounds, and unless I have a clear idea for a relevent background, I'm stuck with stark white. One day I'll get better at ideas for backgrounds... but it is not this day.
