---full view please----characters- Good God and Satan
from- my comic, "The God Machine."
media- 2 pages out of my sketchbook with zee pencil, and photoshop.
"My dear silly lil princess god, who do you think lives in the shadows?"
Where to start?
Well this is the first piece in ages that grabbed me, and didn't let go. I haven't been to bed yet, and i'm still getting over a cold. But when your muse takes you, you follow without much question.
First- the pencil drawing. Started in late 08' and finished it up tonight. I did a strange thing and went to the adjacent page next to it to finish up the image like a mad-girl. I typically hate doing that [due to smudges over time] but this image screamed an additional vertical plane.
Also, i've been trying to couple characters again in my sketch book. I wanted to go back to Satan and GG - since it's so fun to draw GG pissed and ready for action, and that Sonofabitch, Satan, being so smug is fun.
hmm, i know i wanted to say more... but my brain is slipping.
but i haven't been so content with an image in so long. AND my hands seem to be doing "ok". [there is minor pain] -I have a renewed hope that maybe i can get past this carpal tunnel thing, and get back to work on my comic. Which has been depressing the hell out of me. Actually NOT doing art has depressed me greatly. I figured if i keep trying at it, i could renew my spirits, and possibly be ready to work again. Best not to push it too much.

actually i read up on it- and it has to be work submitted at the time they ask for it.
thus already disqualified- plus i'm sure the fine print would have something about them owning the image... haven't looked yet.

love the character names, im always a fan of things like that. fits them perfectly. not to mention the subtle splashes of color make this piece absolutly perfect.

I can totally relate on whole Carpal Tunnel thing.. I have been cutting back on a lot of my water color paintings... just because it takes a lot out of me to sketch it out.. then do a painting of it... I have only done a couple paintings in the past few months.. and it kills me.
But great piece BTW, I love your scribble scrabbles that you do to create your images.. they are so awesome!

Again, I just love your style of lineart. ;__; The red against stark black and white is a brilliant contrast, and the overall composition is really well put together. He looks so ominous against her. Wonderful stuff.

Really beautiful. I love how bloody the red looks standing out in the picture. And just how smoke looks like it's coming from Satan. He and GG are perfectly yin-yang in this.

This is probably my favorite recent piece of yours. It's one of the ones where, once it's finished loading, I want to sit back and say "OK, that's it, I quit", because it's that fucking good. 
I think the neatest details about it, for me, are the little spatters of blood on her dress, and the way the errant lines around Satan get curvier the closer they get to Good God, as though she still has some sort of effect on his presence, even though he seems so much stronger. Very, very awesome.

I think the thing I love the most about your work are the little stray lines that seem to be part of the sketch, but fit right in at home with the finished piece. This is breathtaking, excellent job here.

Indeed those lines are as essential as the figures themselves. Atmosphere, and movement they provide, and sort of a mental space too. Stray lines are my friends.

That's beautiful Chan. I love how GG's dress is white and fades into the light background that is being swallowed by Satan's shadows. This is amazing. I'm so glad you are producing again.

I somehow get the impression he's wearing a tuxedo... dunno why...
Just looking at the hands I can see a whole drama ready to unfold. The way GG's is poised, as though ready to deliver a viscious left hook and he difference in Satan's, one almost gentle while the other seems to make the very air itself bleed...
Beautiful, subtle work of the highest calibre (yet again)!

you and Satan. ^_^ you know, i did leave in the "homeless" comment in issue 1. But now Satan has some more refined dialog in that scene. The beauties of rewriting/editing.

Absolutely stunning. The rough texture of the pencils really makes the piece, I think.
And, as usual, your colors are spot on. The red in her hair is just right to be a great focus and the lighter highlights behind Good God add great atmosphere.
