Temporal range: Early Jurassic, Sinemurian-Pliensbachian, between ~199-183 Ma
Location: India, southern Asia

Length: est. 12 metres (Paul, 2016)
Probable mass: est. 7 tonnes (Paul, 2016)

Etymology: Tagore's big legged reptile

Life restoration of the basal sauropod Barapasaurus tagorei, found from the Early Jurassic Kota Formation in India. Initially an informal name since a large femur was found during the early stage excavations in 1961, it was formally described in 1975 with ISIR 50 (a sacrum) being designated as the holotype.
