Description
Well here's the finished product, Steven Sandoval, aka "Flem,": Malkavian/biker/mechanic/musician/handyman/criminal/crazy. I'm not completely satisfied with how the tattoos came out, but obviously there's a bit of a learning curve and I did learn quite a bit doing this one. I'm still trying to figure out this digital coloring stuff.I used a background by

This is truly a great image the detail is really cool, and I love the smoke. As for the tattoos I think what a lot of people forget is that tattoos don't just sit flat, they follow the curvature of the muscles they sit on. For example, the text the goes across his chest should arch over one peck muscle and as it goes into the crevice that is between the two pecks the tattoo should arch down in and as it starts to go over the next peck it should start to arches back up. Granted this is a bitch to do (especially with so many tattoos) but I think if this was fixed the tattoos wouldn't feel like a distraction on the image but rather an enhancement.

Yeah this is a very good point. As it is, I fucked with the chest tat more than the others and it still bothers me more than the others... never quite got it right, more like, "Well fuck it, that works." When I mess with something too long I tend to lose patience with it, which is why I probably have stacks of unfinished projects, because one element or another bothers me. My main focus on this one was to get more realistic skin tones and make sure it didn't look airbrushed like most of my past digitally painted pieces. I didn't have any kind of reference with this either. I may go back and edit some of this a little more, make certain tattoos a bit less saturated (Mario and the flames are still bothering me). Thanks for the specifics!

You've really brought the linework alive. My only ickle crit (and you can slap me silly if you want) is that maybe, just maybe, the shading on the face is a little dark, and the overall picture could be a little lighter.
But overall this is killer work and you should be well pleased with the result!

Heh, I have a couple complaints about it... I have the psd document before I flattened the layers and made half of it darker so I might go back and re-order some of those layers (My teal glow ended up on top of the lines somehow...) and make it not quite so dark. Thanks for the input, I'll tweak it a bit...
The bondage girl is in the works! I worked on her a little bit yesterday... But you know, still in the sketch phases and tweaking/perfecting and stuff. I don't like her legs, it's from a bit of a looking down at her perspective, so it's taking me longer than usual, I suck with perspective. You ever gonna draw Miss Jezebelle? If you wanna send me an email address, I'll mail you a zip file of my favorite photo set of her... she's got ball gag.

Take your time with the bondage girlie, perspective is a tricksy mistress to be sure. You'll get her legs right eventually, trust me.
