Description ^u^ Found a large flush of these delicious and unique babies! Well, I say "unique" but of course there are three species with the wrinkled cap appearance in common, told apart by minute details of the pore surface and which tree they're near.

These guys are of course Boletus hortonii--the Wrinkled Bolete, being tossed about near the Leccinum genus lately but overall not very Leccinum-like except for DNA. It loves oaks but I suspect the ones in my area are alright with beech and maple as well (as it's hard to find uninterrupted oak forest around here). It's a good edible as all the look-alikes are equally good, and is notably easy to tell apart from the two toxic bolete species. These were growing in the dozens, so I picked me a dozen along with a few other species.

Bolete weirdos are up there in my favorites.
