Description
In this version, his pregnant mother, Vanessa Brooks, was attacked by Deacon Frost, a vampire who is using her and her unborn child to make himself a vampire god. Vanessa gave birth to son, Eric Brooks, and she sadly died after. He was raised in an orphanage for a few years, until he ran away when he was 8. The reason he ran away is when it was revealed that the orphanage is just a blood sacrifice to The Vampire Elders, and he was so scared that he had to leave. He bumped into a Mysterious Man who sees him crying and asks him if he is okay. Eric says that he is, but he won't believe him but, there are vampires at the orphanage, killing children and he escaped. The Mysterious Man told him that he did the right thing and he was able to kill some vampires. During the fight, The Mysterious Man witnesses Eric having Vampire Teeth and then sees that he is immune to UV Lights, Silver and Garlic. He also knows that Eric does have a reflection on reflected surfaces. The Mysterious Man asks Eric if he was born with Vampire features or he was bitten, but Eric says that he doesn't know. The Mysterious Man reveals himself as Abraham Whistler, Professional Vampire Hunter and tells Eric that he is an Dhampir, a human-vampire hybrid possessing the supernatural abilities of the vampires without any of their weaknesses. Eric was shocked, but Whistler tells him that he will raise him as his son and that he will teach him to slay vampires to save the world. Eric agrees to it on one condition, he wants a badass name and decides to call himself, "Blade".
Blade grew up as the "Daywalker", a name that strikes fear in all vampires around the world. As he would work in the shadows and kill every vampire there is and he was infamous in the monster/ dark world. On one mission, he slays a vampire who bites a hematologist Karen Jenson and brings her to Whistler to cure her, but she ends up creating a new cure that would make vampires mortal, and their heads would exploded. He learns that Deacon Frost is involved in this, and he off to gather more information, and killing a few more vampires on the way. He stops at a vampire that has all the information that he needs and reveals that he knew that Blade would leave Whistler and Karen alone. He kills the vampire and returns to the base, where he finds a beaten Whistler and tells him that Frost plans on becoming the Blood God and he wants Blade's Blood to be immortal. Blade suits up and Whistler stays behind to recover. He arrives at Frost's Domain and he learns that Frost is the vampire that bit and killed him mom. Blade is subdued and taken to the Summoning Floor in the Underground where Frost plans to drain him of his blood and use it to summon the Blood God to become its avatar. Karen, after escaping her bonds, frees Blade and allows him to drink her blood, enabling him to recover and providing him more power than he has ever had. Blade confronts him after killing all of his minions, and he was able to kill him with 6 of Karen's Head Exploding Formula and kills Frost permanently. After the fight, Blade and Karen get back to Whistler and cure him from being a vampire and she offers the formula to Blade, which he rightfully declines, but he asks her to make him a serum to keep him from becoming full vampire.
Blade went on many adventures, but one time, vampire overlord Eli Damaskinos sends his minion, Asad, and daughter Nyssa to strike a temporary truce with Blade, informing him of a pandemic that has been turning vampires into "Reapers", primal, mutant creatures with a ravenous thirst for blood and a highly infectious bite that transforms both human and vampire alike into them. Admitting that they now have a common enemy, Blade reluctantly allies with the vampires, teaming up with the Bloodpack, an elite group of vampires originally assembled to kill him. During a battle with Reapers in a vampire nightclub, Blade discovers that, like him, they are immune to most vampire weaknesses. The Reaper leader, Jared Nomak, arrives and holds Nyssa hostage, before attempting to recruit Blade to his cause citing their mutual hatred of vampires. After several of the Bloodpack's members are killed, Blade fights Nomak, who he finds is immune to his weapons, except UV Lights. Nomak, the first Reaper, is the son of Damaskinos, who he considers a failure due to his weakness to sunlight, which Blade decides to stop both and thanks to the help of Nyssa, both Nomak and Damaskinos are both killed, but Nyssa dies in the aftermath. One time, he was found by Captain America and was told of a vampire named Baron Blood, who is a Nazi Vampire who needs to be stop and is okay with Blade killing him. Blade told him that he will do it for free, since he now gets to kill nazis.
During AVX:Civil War, Blade and Whistler were being hunted down by the last of the Vampires, when they have resurrected Dracula, King of the Vampires himself, and they knew that they needed to take him down permanently. However, they use their connection with a police force to raid his hideout, they apparently killed Whistler. Demoralized, Blade surrenders and is arrested. When he realizes that they are working for the Vampires, he was freed by The Nightstalkers, led by Hannibal King and Abigail Whistler, Whistler's daughter. She tells Blade that he started the Nightstalkers, he thought that she had died, when she was young and left her. Blade apologizes, even though he didn't need to, but Abigail appreciated it. They kill the last of the vampires until Dracula and 3 more left. Blade and Dracula had a grand fight, and Blade had done it, he had killed Dracula, and vampires no longer existed. Blade knows that they are still supernatural threats out there and he will defeat them too.
He would be sling ringed by Dr. Strange, and he was given a place to join him with other supernatural heroes to fight against the paranormal threats known as the Midnight Suns. He would be live to be the best supernatural hunter and member of the Midnight Suns that ever was. He was even present during the final battle against Thanos in Avengers: Infinite.
Blade is, of course, modelled after the Wesley Snipes movie version, because that version is awesome.
