Fantasy Fauna: Watchers. Magically powerful creatures that haunt the caves and abandoned structures of Terra Incognita, hoarding treasure in the manner of dragons. They are typically solitary and xenophobic.

Obviously, this is another slight reimagining of a Dungeons and Dragons monster, this time the Beholder - which I think is my favourite original creature in the game. Like I said the writeup for my pencil sketch for this one, I tried to base it more on cephalopods. They "swim" around through the air until its time to attack something, in which case their eyestalks look in their prey's direction. Each set of eyes is based on a different eye-type found in the animal world, so the main one and the one on the tongue are insectlike compound eyes, two are humanlike, two are goatlike, etc.
