Oh my goodness, this took forever but it was so much fun! As soon as I saw the diamond bagbean and this super interesting craft to adopt theme, I knew I had to participate. Diamonds are my favorite!!

Story: Dia is a bold, strong, but elegant bagbean that has always been fascinated with the night sky. On her identity trial she was determined to find her way up to the stars she loved so. She could focus on nothing else. One day while climbing a mountain, hoping it would take her to the sky, she stumbled upon glittering stones that shone just like her beloved stars. She had somehow found the heavens upon the earth, and her identity was now as clear as the diamonds before her.

She is an astronomer at heart and fashions jewelry inspired by the night sky.

The Piece: So, this piece is pretty large. I did it on a crafting table that's 32"x32" so it's almost 3 feet by 3 feet big. Everything I used for it is precious stones and rocks that were gathered by my good friend algy . She's a gem/rock enthusiast and used to take trips to a camp in North Carolina where she collected rocks from the river and participated in mining activites with buckets of dirt provided from local mines. Most of the stones are rough/unpolished, but I did sprinkle the "sky" with some tiny cut & polished gems (that my friend was extremely nervous to let me use LoL). I was tempted to refine the image more by buying some gravel or fish tank rocks, but decided that would ruin the effect, so everything other than the rock salt and polished gems are raw materials that were hand-gathered rather than straight up purchased.

- Pyrite (fool's gold, for the small deco in her hair)
