Description The Aparados da Serra National Park is a Brazilian conservation unit for integral protection of nature located in the Serra Geral, encapsulating the gorges in the natural boundary between the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
The relief of the region is quite particular, being characterized mainly by gorges with vertical walls up to 700 m high, where the gently rolling fields of the plateau abruptly end, as if they had been "trimmed".

Araucaria trees originating more than 200 million years ago, since the American and African continents were joined, can reach heights of 50 m, with a trunk diameter at chest height of 2.5 m. Its shape is unique in the Brazilian landscape, looking like a cup or umbela. Occupying an original area of 200 thousand km², from the 19th century onwards it was intensively explored for its high economic value, giving very useful wood and nutritious seeds, and today its territory is reduced to a minimum fraction, which according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) puts Araucaria in Critical Endangerment.
