Roy Gifford is a character Geoffrey Whitehead portrays in the play by Colin Welland, "Roll on Four O'Clock." Aired on ITV Sunday Night Theatre on December 19, 1970. I wouldn't have expected to find it on the internet, but I did: www.dailymotion.com/video/x1xh… . I'd paste a link from YouTube, but some of the footage from the beginning of the play is cutout.

The play is about a boy who is accused of being a homosexual at his school. He's bullied and teased and such, even by teachers. It explores all that and has a message about it and all. I just loved it. I rather not say much, just check it out before it disappears lol.

Fun fact: Took me awhile to realize, but Colin Welland was an actor years before he wrote this play on a show called "Z-Cars." I think he and Geoffrey were co-stars at that time.
