Description
this one was mostly just an excercise in trying to learn how to handle paint; a mainly monochromatic palette so i didn't have to worry too much about the colour. Oil on canvas....if it does allude to anything, maybe the months between junior college and college i spent learning card tricks to entertain my cousins.
it always seemed absurd that they would work; once you knew the sleight of hands involved, you couldn't quite believe anyone would fall for it

the continual astonishment to such tricks proves to me that we all believe that magic and trickery is at the heart of everything, thus art and artists flourish.

Love the expression and texture of the subject's face (you I suspect?) and the effects on the top and bottom of the triptych. Lovely work c:
