i needed to try out my new oil paints...so i thought a nice painting of mushrooms for my first oil painting would be a nice trial. i learned some things. be careful with linseed oil, for it is shiny and if it is only on one part of the painting it will not look good.
i wanted the mushrooms to have a spontanious feel, and almost an abstract perspective.
i do not know how long this took, probably the same time as my other paintings (without including the drying times)

The texture is perfect, they look so soft and dusty and mushroomy. Nifty.

very sweet shrooms...
i've always been fond of their many appearances in nature...from so very tasty and delicate, to utterly deadly and horrid. they run the gambit, and yet all have a certain artistic appeal...smooth lines, plenty of depth and shading, and the bevy of colors availible to them.
you've done a fantastic job in bringing all of that out here, you should be proud. definetly a fav.

thank you very much. i love to include them in my works...they are so appealing to the eye or me. i have a hard time with them in real life...i try to touch them..but then they break. and i get sad 
just a little side note : mushroom hunting is fun

ya, you have to get some of the really durable ones for them not to break...like shittake, or the others that grow along the side of tree's...i think the fibers in the bark thru which they grow naturally make them much denser.
and mushroom hunting is fun...in MI we used to go after morrales each year, and stumpers.

I like the perspective in this -- it immediately made me think of Alice in Wonderland, when she's tiny and talking to the caterpillar. Your choice of colors is lovely: fecund and earthy and just a little bit gloomy.
