Made for : "Gothic Wedding"
About 100 hours work, acrylic on canvas, 100 X 50 cm
Inspired by the song "The dance" by Autumn Tears
Here are the lyrics. the part in french are translated in english between the bracket
La rose se meurt (the rose is dying)
Les pétales tombent parmi les feuilles (petals fall among leaves).
Fond-toi en moi (melt in me)
En des images de beauté sans amour (In pictures of loveless beauty)
Et des profils éclairés en silhouettes écarlates (And profiles lit like scarlet silhouette)
Dance with me bue one more time
embrace the silence as I die
Never mend my broken wing
and never hear the children sing
The blade deepens, the shame weakens us
They gather and dream of passion and vengeance
The dualityé of the motion is all that remains
We are dead and death shall be our only companion
Death shall be our only companion!
Frozen cries fill the air
Must we die without despair?
Another dream flowing with lies
Bleeding souls, bleeding lies
Ta main pour toujours mienne (your hand forever mine)
plonge-moi dans le sang et les larmes (dip me in blood and tears)
et meurs avec moi une fois encore (and die with me once again)
Les enfants ne jouent, ne rient, ne dansent, et ne chantent plus (Children aren't playing, laughing, dancing and singing anymore)
Méfiez-vous mon ange brisé (beware, my broken angel)
de ceux qui sont moins misécordieux que moi (of those who are less merciful than me).
La lame s'enfonce, la honte nous affaiblit (the blade deepens, the shame weakens us)
Ils se rassemblent et rêvent de passion et de vengeance (they gather and dream of passion and vengeance).
Dance with me but one last time
Take my hand and cry for light
Open wide thy broken wings
And hear the dying children sing

WOW!! Well that's a handful of work! It reminds me on two things, medieval artist Bosch and Croatian renaissance artist Vincent from Kastav's fresco 'Dance Macabre' (you should check it if you haven't yet!)! Great choice for use of perspective in a subject like this. Also, everything seems unreal, beautiful and threatening at the same time!
