Description I am having my own little version of Inktober where I deviate from the prompts and just draw a new car each day.

Time for some pre war cars. I wanted to draw some early Ford, and in that regard the T model is hard to avoid since it was so fundamental and numerous being the first successful peoples car, launched in 1908 where cars were otherwise considered as novelty of the rich rather than a practical means of transportation for the everyday citizen and entrepreneurs, who at the time still relied on horse drawn forms of transport.
It not only motorized the Americans, it was the first vehicle to motorize any population at any considerable scale and was build at multiple Ford production lines across the world. Launched in a world of horse and buggy transportation it cemented not only Ford as a world famous corporation but set the stage for a century of US dominance in production and technology only recently contested, and helped create a new middle class across the countries where it became available.

An estimated 16 million units were sold, an achievement not surpassed until 1972 where the VW beetle broke the record, When the VW beetle was discontinued in 2003 it had sold over 21 million units.
There is debate to weather the VW beetle still holds this position as the Toyota Corolla has sold 50 million units, yet this record was spread over various different Toyota designs, that at the end of the day only had the name in common.

The Ford Model T had both many similarities and dis-similarities with what we drive today. It featured a water cooled 4 cylinder engine like most cars of today. Yet it had a completely different kind of transmission and pedal layout where you changed gears with pedals and set the throttle as well as ignition timing on leavers by the steering wheel. As you can probably see on the drawing it had no brakes on the front axle, brakes were only mounted on the rear, this was common for early cars. People who meet one at a fuel station are often surprised that the owners fuel them with low octane fuel. This was because the Model T was developed to be able to burn the often poorly refined gasoline bought at drug stores or as a cleaning remedy before gas stations selling it as a motor fuel was wide spread, This low compression also enabled it to run on petroleum if you could not find gasoline.
Pioneering automotive mass production the car could be made cheaper and cheaper as production numbers rose. Kind of like what Tesla owners complains off today the price dropped year after year from an initial 825 bucks all the way down to 260 for an entry level model, effectively making it cheaper to buy than its first competitor a horse, that was if you needed a buggy to go with that horse, as horses in the pre war era could be bought for as little as 100 bucks. But where it really beat the horse was in its upkeep and speed, needles to say you did not have to feed the T model when it was not working.

Here I have depicted a 20's build model T Roadster Pickup, I am aiming for some "California or Bust" vibes from during the drought and depression that plagued the US in the interwar period.
This is some farmer and his family moving for greener pastures during that era.
I also brought a little cameo for Grubby the urchin  as the rear most kid helping the vehicle move along on the muddy path.

The T model was actually fairly suited for driving on unpaved roads with high ground clearance and thin wheels that cut through the mud, Its front axle has more flexibility than that of various modern 4x4 vehicles.
Being designed before the various highways and paved road networks it had to be.
However in this case it seems to need a little human power for help.
