i am 50 hours in and have only scoured about 35% of the map... so i feel ya

I've got some tips for you. Vegetable starch can be scrapped into 5 adhesives, and it's components are renewable. Just go to the greenhouse with the Mr. Handys working it, and they have all the main components. Also get the 'Scrapper' perk for more screws and things like that from scrapping guns ^^
Did you make your ingame character look similar to that? ^u^ I did except mine has pigtails.

Awesome, I figured that out a few days ago! Also, I have been scouring the map before going far, so by the time I made it to diamond city I can now by shipments of stuff. Lately my trouble is (surprisingly) steel, I made the mistake of making a steel based city on top of the gas station, and I need to wait for my scrappers to renew my steel supply now as I scrapped ALL steel in all settlements

Red Rocket gas station is my home base in FO 4 ^^ But I may buy the house for 2,000 caps in Diamond City that way I'll have a command base right in the middle of the map. BTW, did you catch the joke about Red Rocket and how you first find the dog there? I'm not sure if it was intentional or not. There's an episode of South Park where the boys are jerking a dog and while saying, "Red rocket! Red rocket!" XD
I'm assuming you're playing it for the PC. I'm only using 2 mods ATM, but I consider them necessary. One is where you can craft ammo at chemistry stations. The other is where you can craft lore friendly Nuka Cola posters with pinup girls in the workshop menu for settlements. I so can't wait to see the equipable sexy lingerie that will no doubt be made after the mod kit is released ^u^

I am not modding it for my first playthrough, I kinda like the ammo setup as it makes me change my equipment, also i have gotten THOUSANDS of pipe pistol rounds, so I was sure to equip a legendary pipe pistol for a while. But at this point, I am set weapons wise! good luck in the wastelands

Speaking of pipe pistols I have a funny story. I cleared out Trinity Tower with my female character and had Cait as my companion. One of the legendary super mutants dropped the 'Junkie Pipe Rifle,' and it's effect was that it does more damage the more withdrawals someone is suffering from or something like that. I had to pause the game and laugh because I gave it to Cait to use as her weapon since she killed the super mutant that dropped it and because she's a junkie whore XD
