This makes a amazing wallpaper. When I see these kind of pics, I always wonder what's going in people's lives

A mosaic of a hundred busy Hong Kong lives, some vacant and dark, and the others just a slightly different color from the last. (Striking how there's not a uniform color to the unit lighting in what looks like a pretty simple building.) It's been my wallpaper for years.

Thank you. We were staying in Kowloon, although I can't remember any more specifically off the top of my head. We were only there for a day, unfortunately.

wow. i went to HK and this kinda juxtaposition of rich beside poor is definitely one of the things i remember.
the hotel i stayed in was also facing apartments similar to these.

I remember thoes!! I used to live in something like that. Yep, definity not fun but it still gave me a home-ly feel. It looks old and cold and about to fall apart but it still have the warm home feel and still very strong. It's all part of what Hong Kong is all about: contrast of all things. This photo show the old part of something new. It's so beautiful.
As I always describe a picture of Hong Kong, to me, it's not the brightness of light that made the photo beautiful, it's the thought and knowledge that every speck of light, every lightbulb shown in the photo, has someone in that space, a couple, friends or a family. Even every dark room the photo show is a home to someone else. Now look at how bright and dark the photo is. Can you feel the warmth from these families?

I really like this, it's definately different from the typical shots of Hong Kong. I know that the older gov. commission housing is buildins are being torn down and being replaced and it kind of makes me feel sad, as these buildings are definately part of HKs character (not that i'm not happy for the residents who get to move into the buildings of course!). I love how you have taken the photo of the building and only of the building, without any background or any other building framing it.

Thank you very much. I'm not really a photographer, not even an amateur one, so 'concept' is all I have.
I don't even know what ISO is! d:

LOL that's ok, I just recently learned what it was myself. And hey, 95% of photography is concept, so you're doing alright for yourself as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sure the composition is off: I'm not really a photographer at all. But thank you anyway. Feel free to use it, if you want. But if you could show me what you end up using it in I'd be very interested, thanks.
