So (like everyone else) I just HAD to make an Avatar OC.

Her name is Kaiya (Which means Forgiveness). Her Father is a much respected Admiral in the Fire Nation and her mother was an earth nation refugee who met Kaiya's father by a fate of chance (a story which I am too lazy to explain). He brought her back to the fire nation planning to pass her off as a rich noble, but there was no need, for shortly after Kaiya was born, she died. Against all odds, Kaiya turned out to be an earth bender who grew up as a noble in the Fire Nation. Her father kept it secret because he knew what would happen to both of them if anyone were to find out. At age 5, she met Zuko and became Azula's friend (Punching bag) along with Mai and Ty lee. When her father would go away on deployment, Kaiya secretly taught herself earth bending but could not become a master without proper training. She ran away from home after a fight with her father when she was 13 years old (One year after Zuko had been banished) to find a master to teach her. She traveled to the city where she heard her mother was born and was taught by her lost Great Grandfather, Bumi. After mastering earth bending, Kaiya then traveled to the desert to learn sand bending. THIS is where she meets the Gaang and travels with them to defeat the fire nation, because she knows tips having lived there for 13 years previously.
