Description

A few months ago my friend asked me if I would draw him a tattoo that should cover his upper right arm from elbow to shoulder. He didn’t really have any clear idea about what he wanted specifically although he was very clear about what he didn’t want. An hour later we had stopped talking about motives and tattoos and found ourselves talking about his life and where he wanted to go with it. I spent the next few months going to and from the tattoo between other jobs, occasionally looking at the notes I had jotted down that afternoon, and slowly the picture emerged. An old oak for his home island, sparrows for nearing shore after a long time at sea, mountains from the world he has travelled, a mouse in a casserole, for the restless chef that he is, another escaping in an unnoticed moment, flowers in spring, a light in the darkness and the small little pond of home leading into the endless ocean where a ship slowly comes over the horizon.

I am quite happy with how it turned out and look forward to seeing the result.

In one word: Perfect!

I myself am still looking for the person to draw me a sleeve that will give the same "feel" as this one.

I love a tattoo that's more than it looks at first sight, the little things like the ship, great idea.

Makes me wanna rob a bank so i can get my next tattoo

Thanks Kadeddy

Yeah - I wanted to make it interesting to look at - also after the first glance.

If you do rob a bank, make sure your current tattoos can't be seen - too easy to recognise
