Description β€œThere is a garden in every childhood, an enchanted place where colors are brighter, the air softer, and the morning more fragrant than ever again.” - Elizabeth Lawrence

[I'm going to be honest in telling you that when I shot this earlier today, I didn't exactly know what I was going for. "Forested profile" were the words that kept flying around in my head for whatever reason. (Not to mention random lines from Legend ... I'm weird.) I decided to mimic one of the many trees in this grove that I so dearly love. I found myself repeatedly looking into the distance of the grove--being pulled inward. Whatever this image is, I'm happy I created it.]

Thank you! I was *so* pleased that the colors came out how I wanted. It was something I've tried to achieve in previous photos and missed the mark on.

This photograph has something really attractive, I don't know why ... maybe this green and mysterious atmopshere, + the fact we can't see the model's face ...

This is incredible Kindra !

Ahhh, thank you! This one's actually a self-portrait, and it was a spur of the moment shot. I didn't know what I was shooting when I shot it, but I just went with it. Then I tried some experimental things with the editing, and I was so pleased with the results!

Thank you again for the thoughtful and kind words!

Self-portrait are difficult to do (I know because I take some, sometimes ) ... But I think we are more "true" on it, because we are alone and so, more able to exprime oneself.

I understand that you love the result, I really love it too ! A great, GREAT work sweetie ! .

I agree that they're difficult, but yes, they are very honest, as you say. You don't feel inhibited in the way you might if someone else were there. Of course, a lot of my recent self-portraits are in public areas, so sometimes I get an audience of people wondering what the heck I am doing, haha.

Thank you so, so much!

Wow, no, thank YOU for the kind words! I still have much to learn, but I'm glad to be creating things that I enjoy making and others are enjoying looking at! The whole "group" thing is totally new to me--I didn't know if there was an etiquette involved in terms of posting TOO many photos, but I'm glad to hear you've been enjoying it!

A-Glass-Brightly In reply to SmokyPixel [2012-06-28 18:56:18 +0000 UTC]

I suppose we all have a lot to learn, even the best of us. But tell me, what does it feel like to have achieved near-perfection as a photo artist?
Seriously, every time I see your work my jaw drops. X)

There's no specific group etiquette per se. I think I set the group page to allow members 2 deviations per week. But if you can't wait, I could upgrade you Contributor status. haha

SmokyPixel In reply to A-Glass-Brightly [2012-06-29 00:27:08 +0000 UTC]

Haha, you're so kind! And honestly I'm honored that my work has an effect on someone like jaw dropping!

I didn't know it was your group--that's awesome! If it wasn't a *huge* deal, having my Contributor status upgraded would be amazing! But then, I don't want to drown out the group by overposting or anything. The thing is that I take a LOT of photos outdoors, of people. But I could limit it to my *very* favorite ones.

A-Glass-Brightly In reply to SmokyPixel [2012-06-29 23:14:59 +0000 UTC]

Well get used to the dropped jaws because you can only get better. ;D

Yes, it's kind of my pet project. I started the group because it's my favorite kind of photography. Working with models in nature settings.
Okay, I'll promote you to Contributor if you promise not to spam our folders.

And yes, I hope to continue to grow. I'm constantly humbled by perusing flickr, DA, and even facebook, by all the amazing artists and photographers around! And I absolutely love this group! I'm happy to have found it, and I think it's also my favorite type of photography.

Tinnunculus [2012-06-27 21:10:21 +0000 UTC]

Beautiful lighting and colours. The off-coloured top and bottom make this look like the work of a film camera.
To your right there's a tree (thicker than the two trees to its right) creating a background for the leaves of a plant. It looks like a point to which your gaze is focusing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SmokyPixel In reply to Tinnunculus [2012-06-28 05:18:48 +0000 UTC]

Danke! Yes, I was being particularly attentive to the composition on this one--although in hind sight, I should have removed the nearly vertical tree "limb" reaching across the shot. C'est la vie!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tinnunculus In reply to SmokyPixel [2012-06-28 12:39:01 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome.
Are you talking about the tree that goes "through" your head? I would have taken note of it, had it's line passed "through" your neck. Then it would have been a technical issue...

SmokyPixel In reply to Tinnunculus [2012-06-29 00:27:35 +0000 UTC]

Heh, technical issue, indeed! But I'm glad it wasn't too distracting to you.

first off, Legend was an epic vid. Tim Curry was, quite possibly, the best Devil ever. Second, your greens in this snap are, once again, great. The hazy sunny warmth through the trees are awesome. Brava!

SmokyPixel In reply to M-L-Griffith [2012-06-28 05:17:42 +0000 UTC]

Legend is one of my all-time favorite movies, for sure! And Tim Curry was amazing, but he was technically the Lord of Darkness (it's alluded that he's the son of the Devil). Sorry, I'm *such* a nerd about the movies I love. And thank you about the photo! I was so happy with my experimental editing on this one!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

M-L-Griffith In reply to SmokyPixel [2012-06-28 07:25:08 +0000 UTC]

Wait...what!!!...He's the SON of the devil? really? I did not know that. Hmm...a person learns something everyday. He looks absolutely badass in the movie. Also, I geek out over the movies I dig too, so no apologies needed. I am like that with the movie The Fifth Element.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

SmokyPixel In reply to M-L-Griffith [2012-06-29 00:29:21 +0000 UTC]

Yep! There are points in the movie where you hear him asking questions or carrying on brief dialogues with a voice, and a few points where he says "Father" aloud. At the end, "Father, protect me!" And yes, not only did he look badass, but he's a *phenomenal* actor! And glad to hear you're a fan of Fifth Element--that makes two of us.

If you haven't seen the director's cut, I highly recommend it. It's lacking the awesome Tangerine Dream soundtrack, but there are SO many scenes that just make sense with the holes filled in.

why didn't they include the tangerine dream soundtrack? thats messed up, I dig tangerine dream... Ill try and find the DC. Im sure i'll find it on amazon.

SmokyPixel In reply to M-L-Griffith [2012-06-29 03:52:09 +0000 UTC]

Not sure--there's just an entirely soundtrack for it. Mostly orchestrated. But Lily sings, and it's pretty awesome... OK, no more spoilers from me! Just, yes, you must find and watch it!
