One time at downtown when I was walking in 16th street,a bum came up.
Asks me "Sir, ya got any change ?
Anything to keep me satisfied ?
Please, man."
He was old and friendly, so I gave him 5 dollars.
Ran down to McDonald's like a little squirrel.
At Colfax and Chambers street I was heading to Starbucks,
a bun came up and said
"Gimmie some money, man !
Come on, muthafucka.
I need some cash to get a taxi
drive me down to a shelter!
Gimmie some fuckin' change, man!!!"
Only give him one dollar and he said,
"thanks, homey, you made my day so fuckin' great!"
Felt sorry for him
after smelling strong whiskey in his breath.
While trying to find a spot to read my book,
a young woman with vomit scent clothes came up
and said
"Hey, baby. How about some spear change so I can get some crack ?"
Sorry, I said, no spear change.
She walked pass me.
Seems pretty cute but in a wrong track.
Why
Why do bums, hobos, life dropouts and junkies always come up
ask people for some change ?
For what ?
Why do they lie ?
"I haven't eatin' for weeks",
give then the dough
so they can go buy more drugs and alcohol.
To poison,
poison themselves until they rot.
With strong druggy fetish smell,
destroying health,
abusing it and not giving shits about it.
Bums.
Do they care that people like you and me needed some spear change ?
Quarters for laundry ?
Dines to get on RTDs ?
Small 1s for small snack ?
Middle 20s to pay late rental fees ?
Big 50s and 100s to pay rent, electronic and gas bill ?
Car payments, new clothes, groceries and to send our kids to college ?
Tip our waiters and babysitters ?
Do they ever truly think of that ? All those things ?
Why can't they understand that we people
; the non-bums ;
needed change too.
Next bum comes up and ask for some change, I'll say NO.
But do THEY got change,
A change for a better life ?
