First of all, I found it hilarious when Giovanni suddenly said "MIKAMI'S TALKING TO HIMSELF!" in the english dubbed anime. I suddenly got images of Mikami singing teapot songs to himself in his alone time....
Second of all, Near is so serious all the time, I wondered how his SPK team would react if he cracked a joke...and my conclusion is that he would take him seriously.

Near holding a pink teapot is the most awesome image ever.
I now I have a weird image in my head of a genderbent Wammy's House, in which L visits, and Near and Mello and Matt all have a tea party. With cake. And a pink teapot. XD
Near's joking face is great too. Reminds me of how once Gackt joked with a deadpan expression that he was actually a 400 year old vampire, and some people took him seriously.

Ah, I finished the series before the english dub came out, and the fact the ryuk's voice resembled a mob boss's made it difficult for me to take seriously enough to sit down and watch it.
