Description
This was originally for last week's prompt. I decided to finish it anyway, since it was going to be part of Charmander's backstory. I thought it would have been a fun way to introduce him. Too much procrastination

On a side note: The lights went out about halfway through this, and when it came back on a second later, it was all gone. I had to retype this all... T.T And I don't like how Red came out.

The day began cool and fresh, as any other autumn day at the ranch. Though this wasn't just any other day. Not even noon yet, the weather took a quick change. It grew hot and dry, the fresh crisp air more dusty and stale. Neither the pokemon or trainers were up to doing any training, or battling. Others outside the ranch sought an air conditioned home to hide in. Instead, the trainers declared it a beach day. The staff murmured to each other in excitement. The pokemon understand most of the conversation and chattering amongst themselves as well. Soon, people began gathering snacks and sunscreen. Before long,all the humans were covered in sunscreen from head to toe, and the pokemon stuffed into their pokeballs and awaiting their release.
Upon their arrival, everyone dumped their stuff and let out the pokemon. The beach was soon filled with pokemon chatter and names, as well as trainer gab. Cobalt the cubone, would rather have stayed home. Inside. Away from everyone. Of course though, he was taken along. He began to stray away from the large group, his only 'friends' Nico the shinx and Red the cranidos, following unknowingly. Nico kept trying to get the grumpy two pokemon to play and get in the water. They politely refused."Nico, we would rather go up against a gang of charizards, while blinded than play with you." The silent Cubone snapped at him stubbornly.
Nico, unfazed kept pestering them. Red ending up walking farther up the beach, and away from them. Cobalt was easier to wear down than Red, since Nico had known him much longer. The restless shinx splashing at Cobalt, and spitting water at him. He grinned, each time. Cobalt didn't seem to waiver, and Nico was enjoying it. He kept trying to get a reaction from him. He got one of course. Cobalt finally gave in and reacted to the shinx, the only way he knew how.
By whacking him on the head with his bone club."No means no, Nico. Go away." he grunts walking away from him, glaring harder than usual. Red chuckled at this. "Next time, leave us alone." the cranidos says, walking toward Cobalt. Nico had given a yelp, as he felt the contact to the bone on his head. He rolled onto his back, rubbing the injured area with his paws, quietly murmuring, ow-ow-ow, repeatedly. He began muttering darkly at the two, glaring and heading into the water.

Later, after recovering from his hit Nico went back into the warm sands, shaking out his wet fur to get rid of the water. It became poofy, and he quickly licked it down. He played with a little shell, throwing it in the air and leaping up after it. About mid-leap he saw something off in the distance, floating closer to the shore. Something red curled up... On a raft? Yes, a raft of sorts. "Hey guys, check this out." the shinx calls to the others, landing and wading into the water. "Come on, i'm serious. I think there is a pokemon over there." The two pokemon ignored him for a few seconds before slowly looking over. They did see something. Nico waded deeper into the water, rushing over. It was a fire pokemon!
"What the..?!" Nico exclaimed, surprised. He pushed the raft to shore, the other two pulling it to higher ground, away from the water. It was a charmander. It seemed almost dead, it's flame barely lit. He was cold and didn't move, besides a faint sign of his breathing. Something tied to the bas of his tail. Cobalt nudged it with his bone. He didn't stir. "Nico, go get the humans." Red advised him, staring at the lifeless charmander. Nico gave a quick nod, before following his orders and dashing away. Once he reached them, he tugged at their shirts and shorts, calling them forward. It didn't take too long, and soon two staff members ran after him. They quickly saw what was wrong.
They starrted shouting at each other and others, picking the charmander up and running up the beach. The trainer jumped onto a Pidgeot, flying off to the nearest pokecenter. All of the pokemon were called back into their pokeballs, everything picked up and cleaned. They all rode to the pokecenter, the small trio getting praise for their discovery and aiding in the recovery of the charmander. Nobody knows how he got there, or how long he had been on that raft, in open water. First, they would have to wait for the sick pokemon to heal and wake up.

Unnamed Charmander: I'm not sure, it was supposed to be centered around him but he mostly came in the end. So at least 3 Exp.
