Description
Been a bit since I submitted something... I've been trying to figure out what the best pose is for Tikal in each category. Here's a breakdown:
Idle
1 - A pretty standard idle pose. Fits in the betweens of action-y poses, but otherwise doesn't really fit Tikal that well. Looked better in my head...
2 - The more classic Tikal pose. Some version of this is probably what's most correct, but it doesn't make sense immediately after, for example, running. Or maybe it does?
3 - This is the idle pose that Tikal has in Sonic Runners. While I think it looks better than pose 1, it feels too Amy like...
Crouch
1 - This was one I made from the ground up, measuring half of an idle pose and making sure her head didn't pass halfway. I like the pose, but I don't think it suits Tikal too often unless it's a more specific situation.
2 - After I made pose 1 and realized all of it's problems, I made this pose, which suits Tikal way more than pose 1.
Look Up
1 - I opted to nix the usual move-hand-over-eyes kind of look up pose and tried to come up with something more based on the act of pondering. (Looking up in Sonic games doesn't really do much anymore anyway)
2 - Made a version that would be easier to animate than pose 1.
3 - Moved the head angle a bit from pose 1.
Fall
1 - Standard action-y fall pose. I figured I'd just go with this one and be done with it originally, but I dunno if it really works as well as I thought it would...
2 - More of a.. dainty, I guess, falling pose. Suits Tikal better than pose 1.
3 - This one feels very floaty to me, as if you were playing as Peach in Super Mario Bros. 2.
Rise
1 - This one pairs with Fall pose 2 after she's done spinning. I like the combination of the two and the action I can see it having animated, and it suits Tikal. Might be too goofy though.
2 - Tried a more bland rising pose. Pretty boring, considering pose 1.
3 - Pose 2 started reminding me of this other classic Tikal pose, so I added it in. It's probably the most Tikal-like pose in this list, but I dunno if it's really suitable for the action it's under...
Lose
1 - The usual 2D Sonic character pose. (Looks pretty terrible in the style I developed...) Doesn't really suit Tikal anyway. Not that dying really suits Tikal anyway. Or anyone else for that matter.
2 - A dramatic pose. Would probably be accompanied by slow-motion. The Chaos Emerald there would be spinning and emit a light that whites out the screen to restart the stage.
My current favorites, which are always subject to my opinion re-evaluating itself over and over, are 2,2,1,2,1,2.
