Description Dark Matter is an OOAK necklace. For this piece I really wanted to create a pattern and design that truly highlighted the Orthoceras Squid Fossil. The spiral strand laying behind the pendant gave an interesting feel of a mix of the ancient (fossil) and the modern or almost sci-fi (DNA strand) look.

Materials:
This piece incorporates a genuine Orthoceras Squid Fossil from Morocco. Other major elements include; seed beads of varying sizes, various sized Czech fire polished glass beads, dyed pearls, bugle beads, and a wonderful silver claps made by ~Bright-Circle

Techniques:
The beading techniques used in this piece include; bead embroidery, flat peyote stitch, Russian spiral, and stringing. The pendant portion has been made by using bead embroidery onto starched felt, which is then backed by an imitation leather cloth.

Thank you so much! This was my attempt at making a simplier design, but things got a bit out of hand.

Hehe If this one is simple I'm curious at what you would have defined something complex!

Oh, wow. Your designing has been growing greater and greater! This one, it seems every element has been carefully considered and selected. LOVE the use of the helix rope--it really is evocative. And paired with the black bail and the simple strand of frosted grey seed beads.

Thank you so much! Your feedback means a lot to me because I feel you are a very creative designer. I am learning to "let" go and just kind of let the beadwork unfold. I am usually stunned by what I end up with in the end.

Isn't it funny how letting go can really help you come into your own? You certainly are. See, it probably would never have occurred to me to use the helix stitch. I'm kind of lazy and just never feel like doing stitched ropes.
