Description A series based on various 5-color palettes (none of which I made up myself). I got really excited after doing the Ivysaur one and did all of the rest really quickly after that, but then I stopped for some reason. I still have the palette key, maybe I'll continue these later.

You learn a lot more about color than you think when you do these-I wasn't expecting to learn too much, but after doing even just these four I noticed some of my bigger pieces had better color choices. It really makes you think about what you use to shade and stuff too, and forces you to experiment so that the whole thing doesn't come out as a muddy mess.

I would definitely recommend this sort of exercise to anyone wanting to better understand color. Supplement this with general research on color theory, and you're learning a lot in a really small amount of time! There are a lot of palettes people have made strewn all over dA and the net you can use, as well as gobs of tutorials to help you get started. Plus, it's fun. So doooo etttttt.

-------------
Jolteon: The colors on this one were weird, and I didn't allow myself to change the palettes (since that would make it more of a challenge), soooo....not much I could do about it. I did bump up the saturation a bit, though the original colors were SO light you could barely tell them apart (even though they're green and pink/two totally different colors, yes).

Ivysaur: This one's a separate deviation that I already talked about. I just included it here so it wouldn't look weird with just 3 panels :v

Articuno/generic angry glowy-eyed birdie: I LOVE THESE COLORS. I want to work on this one more and make it better. c:

Ampahros: Another case of the palette being similar to the Pokemon's colors. It's not really that exciting.

Nice. So do you choose the colors yourself, or does someone else pick them for you?

Thanks! I actually just found a page online that had about 18 different color palettes, sort of like this:

I just choose ones that look interesting, and go from there!
