Not going to lie, I tried to mimic this palette as much as I could by eye retinaleclipse.com/treepalettes3.png I didn't really accomplish what I set out to do in the beginning, but I'm happy with the result. Will definitely be doing more trees later on.
Here's a palette comparison if anyone is interested (the 15 colour palette being the one I made) i.imgur.com/TR1Avw0.png
I think my palette is more stiff, in the sense that I used more of a flat ramp whereas the other one was much more flexible with it's saturation and hue, it also shifts a lot more towards blue.
Back to doing side-view art now x_x

I really like this. It makes me want to play a game like Secret of Mana etc. The highlights on the roots, the hanging vines and the turquoise accent color make it perfect. <3

Just keep on pixelling and other pieces and techniques -you're bound to make something better than your last pixel if you stick to it : )

The dimension you pulled off in those leaves, absolutely stunning. The only thing I feel is you need some depth to that grass, I would add one or two levels of darkness into it to break it up and add tie it into the tree. My eye says darkness, rather than highlight but that may be personal approach.

Yeah, I've gotten a few people talking about the grass. I didn't really use all the colours that I had available on it, you're definitely right though, I should've seen that from the beginning :C

Hey! Yea, that might be caused by that yellow-green colour I used as one of the shades. Here's another version that doesn't use such a yellow colour i.imgur.com/SBcqvVH.png (not sure if that's a yay or nay). Maybe I should put a bit of highlights in the grass to make it pop more or something? Thanks a bunch for taking the time to offer your insight ;D !

Personally, I think adding some highlights to the front of the grass patch will add depth. I wouldn't know how to go about that, but I think it'd look good.
