Still, it's really interesting to see an amputee demon 
Although, what do you mean by you can only see his second eyes in heat? Does that refer to the temperature of the room, or him being in heat?

His second set of eyes, the lower set, are thermographic. Those eyes can only see the world according to degrees of heat... a human, for instance, would be outlines of yellow and orange and red because they have so much internal heat, but rocks and trees will be black blue or purple because they produce little to no thermal energy.
For demons, it's an effective organ evolution when hunting. Your prey, if it's an organism that produces body heat, will always be lit up like a Christmas tree even on the blackest night.
