Link as he appears in my ongoing Legend of Zelda fanfiction, which can be found here: www.fanfiction.net/s/12487384/… I am currently working on bringing this project to my YouTube channel as a sort of visual novel, which will have a few differences from the written version that's currently available on FanFiction.net.

Based on how he looks in this picture, the fanfiction looks like it's set in the Downfall Timeline.

Good observation; the design was indeed inspired by the Links from the earlier classics (i.e. the games of the Downfall Timeline). However, the fanfiction itself is actually set in the Unified Timeline, between Four Swords and Ocarina of Time.

Yeah. Even Nintendo had to place BotW outside of the timeline because of how confusing it already is.
