Description
According to the Edda, Brunhild was a sleeping Valkyrie which was banned by Odin into a ring of fire and ice. She was awakened by Sigurd, who broke the ring and took off her armor from her body. They wrestled and Sigurd stayed nine nights with her. Sigurd made her his fiancé.
After leaving Brunhild, Sigurd came to Gjuki. Gjukis wife Grimhild gave Sigurd a poison, which made him forget Brunhild. So, Sigurd married Grimhilds daughter Gudrun and helped Gudruns brother Gunnar to marry Brunhild.
Accused of betrayal, Sigurd was murdered. On his burial, Brunhild jumped into the flames of the funeral pyre and died on the side of her beloved one.
