Description This was a work of patience. I still gaze at it occasionally, pondering the effort put into each square inch. It took me months to complete this, working from a photograph of Sebastião Salgado's Terra series. I don't have the original anymore but you can see a small sample here (the only one i could find). This painting was done with a rotring precision pen 0.32 by emulating printing techniques, obtaining gradients by spreading out or nearing the dots of ink. you can see it better in this detail photograph i also uploaded.
Let me know what you think.

The patience alone to complete this piece is impressive, as well as the skill and level of technique involved of course. Awesome!

It's really quite amazing. Stippling is really a chore but the payoff is huge. I used to do a lot of hatching but I find stippling to be more effective at suggesting depth. This piece is outstanding in its depth and tone. I'm adding it to my favorites.

How big is the original? You have obviously put masses of work into this and it has really paid off. The textures on the face are excellent... it is nice to see a picture of a face with real character. Not that I don't like looking at conventionally attractive faces, but it's great to see pictures like this. I admire your patience!! I get so impatient if a work takes me more than a few hours...!!

This is incredible! I can't imagine the amount of patience involved. I personally have only used crosshatching with my pens. I have no patience to work in only dots. Spectacular!

ahah! not really! this was therapy
You really think the old lady is ugly? Maybe i'm crazy but i allways loved old people's faces... the human race is so out of synch with nature, but when i look at such a face, with as many wrinkes as an ancient tree, i feel like we all belong, sooner or later, nature finds us... don't know if that makes any sense, but i absolutely love that face! Thank you so much for the comment.

i love to draw old people's faces. theyr much more intersting, unique, and challenging.
but this face....holy crap i could hardly tell she was a live human for a sec. the day i see her in front of me is the day people would be able to reach 160 years of age! no offense, its a great drawing, but she is pretty ugly.

great detail. the only criticism i have is the white area in the lower right corner. since it is so bright, it creates a lot of contrast and draws the eye away from all the details you worked so hard on. great job though.

check out the deviant nimra for some parallels tp your work. he does all his work with mechanical pencils.
