Description This is a on-of-a-kind wedding dress, fusing the aesthetics of both punk rock and traditional ellegance. It was made custom for ~tuffycuddles , based mostly on her own concept drawings.

This set of photos shows the dress with the train bustled for dancing.

The dress is made with a satin outer, on a foundation of coutil in the bodice and tulle in the skirt. It is lined with white muslin. The drapes of the skirt are supported with 1/2" twill tape, and adorned with chain and metal dots. The belt loops are made with grommet tape, and will hold a pyramid-studded wide white belt. The bustle is gathered using the adorning chain and dog clips. The underlayer of tattered tulle is sewn to the foundation of the dress, and integral to the design.

I have posted construction notes with photos to my primary blog at [link]

Do the chains hold up the bustle or are they just for design purposes

The chains are actually holding up the bustle. They are supported underneath with tailor's tape and securely stitched to prevent them from pulling free.

aaaaaugh~~~ I wanted to make a bustle but chains are out of the question for this dress design. There's black lace on the neck and sleeves and blue and white pinstripe. buuu~~ I'll have to think of something else~~ Gawd I'm starting to hate the bustle just for it being so dang complicated. To be cheap it needs to be simple but to look nice it has to be some what elaborate DX/ X9/ XD

This is definitely not the simplest way to do a bustle. I did it this way so the train could be lifted off the ground for dancing.

That blog tutorial shows and example of an easy way to do it. Basically, you make your skirt pretty much like normal, but with extra room in the back. Underneath of it, you wear a pillow on a belt, which gives it volume. There are quite a few different ways to shape the pillow so it gives different shapes to the skirt over top.

ooooh~~ I see's this part might help with certain things b/c it was obvious that I wasn't going to be able to get... what's that thing called??? the wired round thing they used to put under their skirts to make a fake booty and raise the skirt??? Welll any ways that thing~~~

Bustle. The skirt over the top and the cage, pillow, whatever gives it form, are all called bustles.

That was completely unintentional, and I didn't even notice it while taking the photos. My sister pointed it out to me after I was done taking the photos.
