The story is that the knight is a crusader passing through Greece on his way to the Holy Land, when he encounters an Ancient Grail Guardian on the mountain road who can use his powers to grant the knight immortality if only he will take the grail from him and allow the weary Guardian to pass to the Next World from whence he came. He does not belong here.  He means the knight no harm, but longs to leave this bloody world full of conflict and hubris.

Ok, that's my idea for the story.
