i agree. i think the color version works better. it seems to give it more depth and contrast. they are both wonderful captures. the monotone version gave me a feeling of a cold plasticized existence - and this one..i dont even know, but i love it!

You have it all muddles up. the station is Underground, so 2-3 levels below where that picture was taken. that tower is an old Shot tower (where they made ballbearings) then it was heratage listed and someguy wanted to build melbourne central shopping centre over it. so they had to build around it, they ended up making the cone to cover it.

This is really cool. The way that every element contrasts (bricks to steel, circles to squares) really works well, especially in a compostion like this where the two worlds seem to be colliding. As far as color goes, I think I may prefer the color version a little, but would be even better (IMHO) if you desaturated the metal around the brick building. Either way, +fav

I agree that this version seems more fitting IMHO; the colour seems to lend a very real depth to the brick whereas the steel and glass have nothing to lose from one form to the other. But the picture itself is executed outstandingly in both versions.

Does this remind anyone else of Wayside School from that kids book?

Excellently taken shot, well done on the DD. But I agree with the person above, I prefer the colour version; shows more of a contrast between the two subjects. Great work.

Great perspective, very effective for this kind of shot. I think it's just me, but I like the color version better: the color match between building and pillar, the contrast with the white and gray glass... It just works better for me this way... Congratulations on both of them though.

so cool..... but I think that the grey one looks more majestual, maybe because of the tones or else O.o
