Description Macavity, from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats.
My sister and I wanted to do a duet together for a music festival and we decided we wanted to do Macavity. So, I did a costume design for it.
as Macavity, as a Waitress.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Macavity is sitting at the table, facing the crowd, but staying ‘hidden’. The waitress, carrying the drink, goes to his table sets it down and turns to go. He calls her back with a snap of his fingers, and whispers something in her ear. She smiles and nods, then goes to the microphone. Whistling at the pianist, the music starts. Waitress sings, while Macavity snaps his fingers along with the music.)
Waitress
Macavity’s a mystery cat
He’s called the ‘Hidden Paw’
For he’s the master criminal
Who can defy the law
He’s the bafflement of Scotland Yard
The Flying Squad’s despair
For when they reach the scene of crime
Macavity’s not there…
Macavity, Macavity
There’s no one like Macavity
He’s broken every human law
He breaks the law of gravity
(Macavity gets up and throws off his cape. He strides to the waitress.)
His powers of levitation
Would make a fakir stare
(He steals the mike, and the waitress goes off, pouting)
Macavity
But when you reach the scene of crime
Macavity’s not there…
You may seek him in the basement
You may look up in the air
But I tell you once and once again
Macavity’s not there…
Macavity’s a ginger cat
(The waitress is scowling at Macavity now)
Waitress
He’s very tall and thin
Macavity
You would know him if you saw him
Waitress
For his eyes are sunken in
Macavity
His brow is deeply lined with thought
His head is highly domed
Waitress
His coat is dusty from neglect
His whiskers are uncombed
(They stand beside each other, doing an Egyptian dance.)
Both
He sways his head from side to side
With movements like a snake
Waitress
And when you think he’s half asleep
Macavity
(He frightens the waitress by yelling,)
He’s always wide awake!
Macavity, Macavity
There’s no one like Macavity
Waitress
For he’s a fiend in feline shape
A monster of depravity
i>Both
You may meet him in a bystreet
You may see him in the square
Macavity
But when a crime’s discovered
Then Macavity’s not there
Waitress
He’s outwardly respectable
(side)
I know he cheats at cards
Macavity
But his footprints are not found in any
Files of Scotland Yard’s
Waitress
And when the larder’s looted
Or the jewel case is riffled
Macavity
Or when the milk is missing
Waitress
Or another Peke’s been stifled
Macavity
Or the greenhouse glass is broken
Or the trellis past repair
Waitress
There’s the wonder of the thing
Macavity
Macavity’s not there
Waitress
Macavity, Macavity
There’s no one like Macavity
There never was a cat of such
Deceitfulness and suavity
Macavity
He always has an alibi
Or one or two to spare
Whatever time the deed took place
Macavity’s not there
Waitress
And they say that all the cats
Whose wicked deeds are widely known
Macavity
Might I mention Mungojerrie
I might mention Griddlebone
Waitress
Though nothing more
Than agents for
The cat who all the time
Just controls the operation
Macavity
The ‘Napoleon of Crime’
(They stand with their arms over each other’s shoulders, doing the ‘can-can’ kicks to the music. They stop when waitress takes over singing. Macavity has looked at his watch, then ran to his chair to fetch his cape.)
Both
Macavity, Macavity
There’s no one like Macavity
He’s a fiend in feline shape
A monster of depravity
(The waitress runs after him, and when he spins around, she realizes his identity.)
Waitress
You may meet him in a bystreet
You may see him in the square
But when a crime’s discovered
Then Macavity
Macavity?
Macavity!
Macavity…?
(This time, she is holding out her hand, asking for money. He throws her a small pouch and she strides to the mike. Macavity goes to the side of the stage and leans on it, arms crossed.)
Both
But when a crime’s discovered
Then Macavity’s not there
(She covers her mouth, so she won't tell, Macavity hides in the curtain)
That. Is. GENIUS! I absolutely love what you did. The picture is fantastic and I also love the script. I didn't think that this song could be interpretted any otherway then when I saw it in theater. You have proved me wrong and I haven't been so glad to ever say that I am wrong.
