Description
VAMPIRE CHILD
The small boy ran to the door,
to get out of class like he did before.
He ran out to the playground
of his elementary school;
He tried to fit in
so kids would think he was cool.
This boy was different:
He was not alive.
He needed blood
to survive.
Other kids would taunt him
when he sat in the dark
in the corner
of the nearby park.
His teeth were sharp;
His body frail.
The sun burned him;
His skin was pale.
The boy's parents fed him every night,
Blood that came from a deadly fight.
He did not question what he consumed:
what it was, and where it came from.
He drank it down,
as he said "yum".

One day on the playground,
it started to rain.
He slipped on a rock,
and screamed out in pain.
A familiar sight, he saw,
ran down his arm.
And at his mind,
thie sight began to gnaw.

"This cannot be,
this isn't right.
What I see...
I drink every night..."

The little boy, sat thinking
all alone in the rain.
Does what he live off of,
create pain?
He ran to his house,
to ask mommy and daddy,
what he really consumed
could possibly be.

"Now son, you must listen.
This is hard to understand.
What you have become,
was very.... un-planned.
You see, Mommy is a Vampire.
Her teeth are like yours.
She survives like you do,
she stays indoors.
You weren't meant to be born.
It was a mistake.
Your existance is a thorn,
on the human race.
We kill to feed you,
so you can survive.
The others do not
get to stay alive."

The boy was shocked
at what he heard.
He was speechless,
not uttering a single word.
He killed to thrive.
It was as simple as that.
He was not alive,
a descendent of a bat.

As tomorrow came,
he walked to school,
his head down in shame.
He felt like a fool.
"It's the death of me,
Or the death of a hundred.
I must make a choice."
The small boy wondered.

He went through the day,
with the usual stares.
He looked away,
And thought of tonight.
He gathered his books,
and ran straight home.
He gathered looks,
and felt alone.

The vampire child,
ran to his room.
He thought "What will be,
my soon to be tomb?"

He went to the backyard,
and gathered two boards of wood.
He sharpened one end,
as well as he could.
Taking a nail,
He hammered the boards together.
He looked in the mirror at his skin so pale,
His miserable existance would end forever.

He picked up the stake,
with a solumn sigh.
His life he would take.
The end was nigh.
Picking up a pen,
he wrote to them:
"Mommy and Daddy,
I'm sorry, I am.
But I cannot live life
as a killing man."

The stake he made,
he held tight.
He pushed it into his heart,
with all his might.
His mind got clouded,
the blood ran fast.
The nightmare of his life
was over at last.

The next day at school,
the kids were curious,
Where had the strange boy gone to?
Where was that fool?
A voice came on the speaker,
So soft and sad.
"Students, I have horrible news.
A student we had,
has passed away.
How he died,
they did not say.
but we know the hospital tried."

As for the parents,
they sunk into darkness.
There lives shattered,
their son, they missed.
"Why were we so harsh?
If only we were to hide
the awful truth,
he might not have died."

During his funeral,
many did cry.
"Why, why, why,
did he have to die?"
At the grave,
the truth was revealed.
The town was shocked,
at what had been concealed.
They gathered around,
dressed in black attire,
The humans mourned,
for their little Vampire.
