Description So... here's the third and final gift of August Gift Giving. It's fanart for The Untamed (and Mo Dao Zu Shi), featuring the characters Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji. The recipient of this gift mentioned that they were watching The Untamed, so I hope they like this. This gift took a while to make (mostly due to my own lack of artistic skill lol). This result turned out way better than my other attempts to make this gift, so I'm happy about that lol. As mentioned before, I'm really bad at clothing (and detail in general rip), so apologies for inaccuracies ;-;

This drawing took a few tries to get to the end result. The first version was completely unrelated to The Untamed, and I had nearly completed that one before deciding that it didn't look that great and my friend deserved way better lmao. After scrapping that mess, I thought about what else I could do and remembered my friend mentioning The Untamed. So I started doing a drawing of that before thinking "Maybe I should do some research on these characters first to see how I can incorporate their personalities into the drawing." So I did research. And didn't emerge from that rabbit hole until a week later lmao. So I came back to what I was working on, which was nearly complete before deciding (again) that it didn't look great and that these characters deserved way better lmao. I eventually managed to settle on the current design, which kinda mixed designs from The Untamed and other adaptations of Mo Dao Zu Shi. This drawing is significant from my other works in that it not only features two people in the same frame (which I tend to avoid doing, since errors in proportions more easily spotted when you have another figure to compare it to and I'm also terrible at proportions lol) but two people interacting (even from the simple interaction depicted). The initial drafts became much more important, as I made sure to include what I needed and that it looked alright before starting on the final lineart, as correcting significant mistakes later on would be difficult. Honestly, it's a miracle that it looks as close as it does to what I envisioned. Also how to robes? Idk how to robes. Don't look to hard at them and you won't notice the errors. Like I said, clothing is hard lol. That headpiece is also just a bunch of squiggles tbh xD. As for the coloring, I kept it light and simple. The shading ended up being whatever I felt like regardless of where the lighting was coming from lol. The previous version actually involved a border involving bunnies, which I reluctantly had to discard, as it clashed a bit with this new design. Overall, I actually really like how it turned out.

As a side note, the second version featured both of them with cups. If that version was finalized I would be tempted to title it "Prelude to Drunken Shenanigans."
