I have had the 'pleasure' of shooting one of thee (gunclub).
Note : before firing, find padding!
Hell of a kick.. Great shot.

When I was in the U.S. I was taken to a range there by a friend, got to shoot some vintage guns.. Including an M-1 , much impressed.. In fact fitted so well, first round fired scored bull.. The entire range stopped.. SO EMBARRASSED! lol Still got the target lol

My 1917 III* has the 1907 bayonet cut down to 12", retaining the original scabbard. I replacedΒ the rear sight with a windage-adjustable one.

Why would they cut down the bayonet? Answer: I almost took out the ceiling Fan in my room several times with my bayonet attached to my rifle. Put a good cut into the edge of one of the fan blades. Cheers!

Probably to make it handier to use as a longer blade really dragged the muzzle down, also the bayonet charge was becoming less and less survivable with the use of machine guns.

Beautiful. It's everything I wish my No.1 Mk.III was.

Basically glue then a little bit of shellack mixed with some sanded wood powder
