Really, honestly. You don't need to draw Basil in the original style and he is sometimes hard to draw.
I think a lot of people find it hard to draw some of the GMD characters 'cuz of their long snouts. There are more fanart drawings of these characters with their faces in profile than there are of a full on drawing of their faces (perspective and foreshortening can be hard).

Wow, that's certainly a new style I've never seen before! It's a nice change from their Disney selves, looking a bit more like real mice. Pink sneakers? They look more like fuzzy bedroom slippers to me!
