A pulse shoots down my spine,

Lightning to veins, fire to my skin.

My aches and pains intensify, as if

They too feel a yearning, coming

Forth, boiling deep within.

My heart, so heavy, so laden with

Grief, regrets, and lost chances

Still in tattered pieces from so

Many dark, crushed romances.

Passion again smolders, deep

In my core, my soul ablaze

With deepest love once more.

My eyes deceive, to all else

I am blind, but for her alone,

I see a gentle soul, so kind.

I see her now, so vibrant and

Soft, if she spoke but a word,

My heart would fly aloft.

Yet…is my love misplaced?

Have I been too deep in it's hold?

Is time so far stretched, are we seen

As only young and old?

Do my words fall, on deaf ears alone,

And am I unworthy of her, despite all

Love I have shown?

Is there such a chasm between us, one

I cannot cross? Am I doomed to harbor,

Alone, these feelings, in loss?

Will my brittle heart shatter, in shards

Upon the floor, will I go unanswered

And unloved once more?

This pulse, it quickens, veins

Of lighting and skin aflame, the

Heat in my soul smolders, and

Trembles at her name.

The world, this place of shadows,

Within I lay, without hesitation nor

Regret, would I trade it all away.

I would overcome every obstacle

And trail, to be in her arms, hear

Her laugh and see her gentle smile.

This heat, this blaze, I will not

Let it die. This love I must give,

I must at least try.

For her, I can only wait and see.

If she has even half that kind of
