Well this is the original design that came up with so it makes sense that it looks better then the other design.

i had both of them in different tabs, and the pages were magically in line so I could switch back and forth and see the clothes change

Yeah, they should do that, because I edited the Alpha design in Photoshop to only change the tops between the two images.
