Her father HAD been complaining about missing food every now and then. He'd assumed it might've been a raccoon sneaking around the farm, or maybe a bunch of rats. They got a cat to try and deal with it, but that fat old hairball never did much but sit in her mother's lap and sleep all day.
One day Renee checked the barn, drawn by the sound of russling hay despite there being no animals that lived in there.. And what a fateful encounter that was.

They first met each other when they were very young, and when Renee begged her parents to keep Maccaroni, they agreed; from then on the duo were inseperable.
