Hermione took the the silver ring of keys from her coat, her hands trembled as she reached for the first of the key holes, a sharp sinister twitch played at the corner of Severus' mouth, it disappeared as sudden as that - when she glanced up to meet his gaze.

the first bolt was drawn back, the second key was pressed home, the mechanism turned hard, it scraped defiantly against her will. she fumbled with the ring of keys once more and finally against the third lock, it resisted her effort even more so than the first two of her attempts.

The Professor loomed quiet and still at the other side of the gate, he withdrew then ever so slightly, in anticipation of the next moment.

Hermione felt the last bolt slip from the lock, there was nothing left to it, she pulled at the gate, it surrendered to her will.
