Other than Madoka, everyone else on stage is a judge - not a contestant (whether or not they're in cosplay); there were 7 judges total.
AMW is a wonderful convention in Rosemont, Illinois [Chicago] that's held annually in July with about 17,000 attendees, normally; although this year, there were only about 13,000.
