He looks good. I love the purple outline you did on him. Very similar to Tai, I think.

I dunno if I like how this one turned out, honestly... Not sure why, but it doesn't sit well with me. :/ His colors look good in my head, but when I did finally color him, I just don't like how they look too much. *le sigh*
It's funny cuz this picture portrays Tai's serious side, yet he's not a very serious person often. Despite lacking most emotions, he tends to somehow make a joke about everything... Perhaps because amusement was the first and only thing he felt; he finds himself the most secure expressing himself this way, even if his jokes are somewhat inappropriate...

Hehe, I was messing around with photoshop when I found that affect~ Very noobish, but I don't care! XD As for his colors, I don't know if I'm entirely happy with them. I think I might change his red scarf to black, so that the only bright colors he has are the poofy yellow arm thingies. I had intended to color him using colors from various poisonous and deadly animals in nature, so the red, yellow, and black affect would make him look a bit more intimidating, but it didn't really work out. |D
Thank you for the comment! <3 I always look forward to hearing what you have to say!

maybe a lil light around the borders would serve him right, since he appears to be glowing... then again, you'll change the bg so it doesnt really matter xD he looks so cool! i mean, he looks so slender and browny at the same time, and has this mysterious look in his eyes... very ninja xD he also reminded me of aoshi shinomori (rurouni kenshin or samurai x). Me gusta =w= i want to read more of the story!!

I'm not sure if I'll change the background yet or not. I'm terrible at backgrounds, honestly! XD; When I learn how to make better ones, maybe I'll change it. :3 Anyway, thank you! I'm glad you like him! <3 Yes, he has a lean, yet muscular build and is very agile. It's funny cuz all the other sketches I have of him, he isn't looking so serious! Oooo, Rurouni Kenshin! <3 I never watched the anime, I watched the movies though. My friend Kris still insists I should watch it, lol! Maybe I will eventually. :3 His sister is a samurai, so they make a complete set. XD

OHSNAP! I just looked at this on the other comp and realized that his outfit is WAAAAAAAAAY too purple! DX NUUU! It's ruined! Ugh! It's going to take me forever to fix it too. ;n; This is why I hate my computer... The colors never look right on that screen! DX It's supposed to be dark blue/indigo! His hair should be natural black as well with only a HINT of brown. *deep sigh* I'm so upset now....
Anyway, yes~ Japanese warriors! They didn't even do that on purpose. XD Alright, I'll read the manga instead of watching the anime. I've been recently on a samurai kick anyway. You at least put something in the background of your finished pictures so it's not just plain white! You don't need a fancy background; some can get too fancy and draw away from the subject, so the way you do it is just right! I don't expect you to put too much background in your manga; that's what a team is for (most published manga's are done by a team of people). It would take you ten times longer to get out new panels if you had to put your effort and focus into the backgrounds of all of them!
Anyway, as for the story, I don't think this one will ever be written, but I keep it anyway because it's one of my favorites. I will definitely have bits and pieces of it out here and there though.

Here's my typical process... I sketch something on paper, I look it over, make corrections, look it over, make more corrections, repeat until I'm happy. Then I get out my light table (cuz the original sketch will often have a ton of erase marks, smudges, etc) and retrace it so that it's nice and smooth (if you want to see some of my rougher sketches, I have a couple in my scraps). Then I scan it with the scanner into photoshop, where I adjust it until I'm happy with how it looks (usually I make the lines darker and brighten the background, and erase any extra crap). Then I will post it up here, and often color it later, but when I color it, I follow that basic tutorial I sent you, but using my own methods. I think the reason why my colors ARE off is because I use my TV screen for my monitor. My husband's computer is high def as well, but when I look at his screen, my colors are always off! I can never tell if it's his comp or mine, so I often ask around to see how it looks on other people's computers. Does his outfit look purple to you or dark blue?
Anyway, you're right, there are manga artists that do their own backgrounds; however, they still won't put 100% into them. Often times, they'll draw out the general idea and a team will still sharpen it up; unless it's like a big, dramatic picture or a filler piece. Then they'll want to display their own skill more. Even though they are capable of drawing all their own backgrounds, it still takes a lot of work and extra effort, which can be a problem when they have a deadline to meet. When I read the first couple books of One Piece (as well as a couple other mangas), I noticed that in the fillers, the artist was begging people to help him out, because he was lacking a team. You could see it a little in some of his art too, that he was under a lot of pressure. Poor guy. I'm sure he's doing a lot better now though, since he's got dozens of books out already! @.@ I don't think I'll ever catch up with that series. Phew! Anyway, so long as you keep drawing, you will get better! I can see so much improvement already! <3
Yeah, I suppose it is a little sad that it won't get written. I have so many stories though! I do have a few rough notes scattered for many of them, including this one, which I could use later if I do ever decide to write it. For now, though it'll just be for my personal entertainment. ^^ You should expect a lot more sketches of characters from this story; which include Evett and Tae as well~ lol! I'm hoping to eventually be able to do entire scenes, which would be fun and could possibly serve as pieces for a illustrated novel!

lol, that's a very long process xD in my case, i sketch and draw the lines in pencil, and then make the lineart with the pens, all in the same page. Tho it'd be nice to retrace it in another page... Guess my only option is b/w scan and then print the picture xD And do you really think it's the tv? D: maybe the contrast adjustments are not good? i wouldnt be able to tell... In my pc, it looks like a very dark and bluish purple, like...
- Ultramarine (pigment) (Hex: #120A8F) (RGB: 18, 10, 143)
*i grabbed that from simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purp… *
but if that's the case, why don't you use your husband's monitor directly? wouldnt that be better? you'd be able to see the real thing! *the only problem is "what happens when he wants to use the computer while I'm using it?!" xD*
And One Piece is way tooooooooo long, that series it's only meant for their followers and that's it xD I'd never catch uo to something like that, way too long for me, even the anime series xD and ololol, the guy was begging for assistants?! Man, that must have been tough! I mean, they have to draw so much in a 21-day cycle in order to get their chapter out!!!! That's why most of them, in the end, need to push the deadline a little... That's very sad xD but I love drawing so much that I wouldnt mind that, see? And I'd be drawing so much that I'd improve like a boss in a matter of months! Am I right? xD I seriously wanna draw for a living ;w; and thanks =w= though idk if my improvement's that evident. Maybe in the manga, it is! I've been reading manga like crazy lately, to get a hold on what and what not to color and how to do it. Also, I think my han'ds responding better to the tablet *yes, my hand's precision goes on vacation when I do lineart in the computer usually ;w;* Then again, thank you very much for your compliment, and for reading my manga!
Yes, I mean, the drawings you make help you a lot to visualize how the characters will look like, the personalities, the kind of world the story will be developed and so on. Before 3 months ago, I also used to keep my stories to myself and draw for personal entertainment. Actually, when drawing for Selfish Romance, I still do it for my personal entertainment, as I enjoy seeing my own story come to life! And it's the first time I ever put my story in a written fashion, or show it to others. Being able to share it with people who likes your story makes it even better, so I think it'd be great if you could make a novel of yours someday! Don't let our talent go to waste, woman! xD
