Blacklight works as a weather pony in her home area, and she's charged with handling storm clouds.

When she was younger, Blacklight had a flesh eating bacteria in her muzzle that had started to eat away the flesh and some of the bone. The infection was taken care of before it spread further, but the damage had already been done.

She began wearing a muzzle to hide the wounds she'd recieved from the incident. Speaking is nearly impossible for her now and eating is pretty difficult. Shockwave helps her with the eating part by making sure her food is soft and cut in small pieces.
