Description This is done for one of the nicest guys on DA.
It's taken from one of his beautiful photos of his cat, Pursia. Drawn on parchment using Faber Castell Polychromos pencils.
Took about 6 hours.

I generally start just by drawing the fur the way it grows. If you do that it sort of just builds on itself. Never start with just a flat layer of colour and then try to add detail later, that way lies trouble.

Thanks, she's a lovely cat and I enjoyed drawing her. A black cat is always a challenge. I think I've said this before somewhere, but I'm always nervous when I'm drawing a much loved pet for someone. They get to look into that pets eyes (almost into their soul if you like) The challenge for me is to capture that and recreate it well enough to satisfy the owner.
