Description The Police OUT of my University! (another shot)
A VIDEO: [link]

Guess where those beautiful French CRS (police corps, used during demonstrations, and for the civilians protection; it means Republican Company of Security) are?...
At Nanterre UNIVERSITY!...

Since several weeks, there is an important movement in the French Universities, protesting against a law voted in August, concerning the Universities.
Monday 12th of November, after a violent morning (see here my other photo ==> [link] ), we voted in a General Assembly of students to block the whole university (the human sciences building was already blocked) .

So that Tuesday 13th, we blocked the economy, management, and law building.
Two sides were formed: the blockers (about 200), in front of the doors, and the anti-blockers wanting to enter (dunno how many, more than 200). There were no violences (just some stupid guy, very few, and in the two camps, throwing mud or finished apples), the two camps were just shouting slogans.
And THEY arrived... sent by the President of the University, Olivier Audeoud...

They were accompanied by another kind of policemen (called Gendarmes) AND the policemen themselve!...

They charged the blockers! Used their truncheon (nightstick), their tear gas!
The firemen came! To bring a girl to the hospital!

You know the worse? Some people, anti-blockers, cheered, clapped and encouraged the CRS and their violent intervention!!
Including shouting the French football, rugby, etc slogan: "Come on the Blues! (Allez les Bleus)...

AGAIN, HERE'S A VIDEO ===> [link]

Their look gives away how low and subhuman you have to be in order to belong in such a disgusting force! They are like cockroaches, afraid of light and cameras! Because they know what they really are!

Wow. I would've been blocking the doors too Wow. So the people outside were cheering for the police to beat you guys? How low. Why were they in favor of having their freedoms limited? Some people will always bend for the rules, even when the rules take away their liberty. Where were you?

I really am sorry too, but applaud your efforts - don't stop fighting in such a peacful positive way, I find it really inspiring and admire it. Even without the postive message you're sending with this photo and it's deeper meaning, I think it's very well taken; clear quality and great composition. Definitely worth favouriting! (It's nice to return to dA after ages and find watched people are still here and posting!)

Yeah...
It's funny that every other god forsaken country has done something about the whole 'college and high school shootings' epidemic...but America.
In America, we don't fix things. We point fingers and sit on our asses, but we don't do anything.
We whine moan and complain but we don't do anything...
Your views may be 'hateful' becuase you can't do some of the most little unimportant things in the world at the cost of possible lives because some jock disgruntled a nerd who's dad owns a shotgun.
You know what bendaho your ungrateful, atleast your government does jack shit.
And people wonder why the French are heavily disliked, it's because your snotty and ungrateful almost all of France is, there's like 10% from France I know, I even know a French guy and he's a pretty nice kid, moved from the capital a few weeks back and he helps around the neighborhood and helps us with groceries and other things.
Hell we went to a tournament for RSV one time

wow, I'm really sorry to see so many ignorant people. Go police, I hope they tazed/beat/gassed their ass so hard they never forget it.

Still a good photo though, good job, even if I don't agree with you.

you agree with my President of University? who sent the police against his pacific, non-violent students?

i have nothing against the police in general, they only obey to orders. i'm against those who send them.

It's a shame that speaking your mind is something bad these days.
On another note though, wonderful capture. I love the cold, hard stares from the police.

I can't believe they send police to your university. Do I understand this wrong, or are you not allowed to demonstrate when there has been voted for laws you do not at all approve of? How else can you tell the government that you don't approve?

Could you please explain a little about the blocking, I did not quite understand. Were you blocking to keep someone out, or just to be gathered somewhere to show how many you were and that you really meant what you were trying to say?

And - you did not do anything but to block the doors (and you let the teachers and those who belong there in?) - why do they send police? And the president of your university, does he not think it a bad law too? Why doesn't he think you're right?

As for the photos - they are both great and very illustrative. And frightening...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sekhmet-neseret In reply to Wulfi [2007-12-15 11:20:55 +0000 UTC]

the president, like the president of the other universities, is for that law, which gives him more power...

we were blocking to prevent people from entering and having lessons. it's a means to demonstrate.

and indeed the medias talked about us.
now, the blocking in all the universities is a bit dead; and the medias don't talk anymore about us. they are confunding blocking and being mobilized. we are still mobilized, even though we are not blocking anymore. even the teachers are now trying to do something.
last week, there was a demonstration in Paris, with students, AND teachers and searchers. nearly ZERO medias talked about it!!! (loads of medias boss are friends with our new president, Sarkozy, which created that law... )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Wulfi In reply to sekhmet-neseret [2007-12-16 16:12:55 +0000 UTC]

I understand. It's sad when the media do not cover cases like that - they have so much power...

What does the law say?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sekhmet-neseret In reply to Wulfi [2008-01-05 11:41:17 +0000 UTC]

it threatens more specially the teachers.
when a job becomes free, for example in ancient history, a council with ELECTED members look for the better new teacher. now, the president of the university will name this council (yeah, and he'll put all his friend, who'll name a teacher-friend..)

when a job become, the president of the univ. can decide to close it. or to close it and open it somewhere else, for example in economy.

when a job is free, this president can decide not to employ a teacher with the status of civil servant, but as a simple worker, who can easily be fired.

Wulfi In reply to sekhmet-neseret [2008-01-05 15:25:02 +0000 UTC]

!! How can the government suppose that will be better for the universities? I can't believe it I truly understand that you wanted to demonstrate against this. And I really can't believe that the government would want a law like that - that's not really very democratic: one person personally choosing all those who will decide...

yeah, all is calmer, too calmer... the medias think, because we are not blocking anymore, that we have stoped demonstrating. >_<
last week took place a demonstration, with student, AND that day teachers and researchers. nearly ZERO medias talked about it!!
